The Buccaneers won’t have defensive lineman Logan Hall against the Commanders on Sunday.
Hall missed practice all week with a foot injury and he was officially ruled out on the team’s final injury report. Hall started 15 of the 19 games the Buccaneers played last season and finished the year with 24 tackles, a half-sack, and two fumble recoveries.
Defensive lineman Calijah Kancey is on the injury report with a calf injury. He was added to the report as a limited participant and is listed as questionable.
The Buccaneers also placed defensive lineman Ernest Brown on injured reserve, so they have several injury concerns on their defensive front. Brown has injured ribs and his roster spot will go to defensive lineman Ben Stille, who the Bucs signed off of Arizona’s practice squad.
Wide receiver Trey Palmer is listed as questionable due to a concussion. He was a full participant in practice all week.
Neither quarterback Marcus Mariota nor wide receiver Byron Pringle will be in the Commanders lineup when they face the Buccaneers on Sunday, but for different reasons.
Mariota missed his second straight practice on Friday and has been ruled out with chest and pectoral injuries. Jeff Driskel will serve as the backup to rookie Jayden Daniels with Mariota out of action.
Pringle will miss the game because the Commanders released him on Friday. Terry McLaurin, Luke McCaffrey, Olamide Zaccheaus, Dyami Brown, Noah Brown, and Jamison Crowder are the remaining wideouts.
Rookie defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton is the only other player on the injury report. He’s considered doubtful due to a foot injury.
Commanders vice president of content Rael Enteen has been fired, a day after he was suspended because a hidden camera video revealed him making derogatory remarks about players, fans and the league.
Enteen thought he was on a date but was actually being filmed by O’Keefe Media, which frequently creates embarrassing videos using hidden-camera footage.
In the video, Enteen referred to players being homophobic and “dumb as all hell,” called fans “high-school-educated alcoholics” and made disparaging comments about Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
“The language used in the video runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization. We have suspended the employee pending an internal investigation and will reserve further comment at this time,” the team said in a statement when they suspended him.
That suspension has now become a permanent firing.
Marcus Mariota won’t start for the Commanders on Sunday. That job belongs to rookie Jayden Daniels.
The question is: Will he back up Daniels against the Buccaneers?
Mariota is on Wednesday’s practice report with a chest injury that limited him.
Jeff Driskel is the team’s third quarterback.
All 53 players practiced for the Commanders, with Mariota one of four who were limited.
Defensive tackle Daron Payne (back), defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton (foot) and offensive tackle Trent Scott (knee) also were limited.
Offensive tackle Brandon Coleman (shoulder), defensive end Clelin Ferrell (knee) and outside linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. (knee) were full participants.
The Buccaneers were missing two players on the practice field Wednesday.
Defensive lineman Logan Hall and kicker Chase McLaughlin did not participate as the team worked to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Commanders. Hall has foot injury while McLaughlin is dealing with both an abdomen injury and an illness.
The Bucs don’t have another kicker on the roster or practice squad, so they’ll likely have to make a roster move if there’s doubt about McLaughlin’s ability to play this week.
Defensive lineman Ernest Brown (ribs) was the only limited participant. Edge rusher Yaya Diaby (ankle), safety Jordan Whitehead (quad), and wide receiver Trey Palmer (concussion) were among the full participants who landed on the first injury report of the week.
