  • MIN Wide Receiver #3
Addison was a full participant for Friday’s practice after being limited earlier in the week with the ankle injury he picked up over the summer. It’s still possible Addison will not receive a full-host of snaps, but there’s no denying this puts his arrow up for the Week 1 title against New York. Jalen Nailor was also removed from the injury report, and should receive some snaps/potential targets as well.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #3
Addison also claimed he was “100 percent.” He also confirmed his Aug. 14 injury was a high-ankle sprain. 22 days isn’t that much of a remove from a high-ankle sprain. We are not doctors, but hopefully Addison isn’t putting himself at needless risk of a setback. The Vikes’ receiver room would be frightfully thin behind Justin Jefferson were Addison to sit. Since it sounds like he won’t, we’ll consider Addison a risk/reward WR4/5 for the opener.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #3
Addison promisingly logged a limited participant designation on Wednesday. His continued activity today is another positive sign for his Week 1 availability. Second-year WR Jalen Nailor (ankle) “worked off to the side with a trainer before rejoining practice... [and] appears more limited than Addison.” He may be active for Week 1 but logging a full complement of snaps seems unlikely.
  • MIN Tight End #87
Already opening the season on the reserve/PUP list, Hockenson is required to miss the first four games of the season. “A Week 7 or so return” for Hockenson would be in line with the Vikings’ plans to have him ready in the first half of the season, which they mentioned as a goal last month. Hockenson suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Week 16 of last season but has been reported as being “well ahead” in his recovery. We’ll likely get a better sense of a return date next month, but a mid-season return remains firmly in the cards.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #3
Addison suffered an ankle injury a few weeks into training camp. O’Connell later told reporters Addison wouldn’t miss extended time because of the issue. It sounds like he will play through the ankle injury in Week 1, though fantasy managers will want to keep tabs on Minnesota’s injury report to be sure. O’Connell mentioned that WR3 Jalen Nailor is dealing with an ankle issue of his own that occurred last week. Per KOC, he is a few days behind Addison. Not that fantasy managers were lining up to start Nailor, but his availability for Week 1 is far more questionable. All of this is to say, expect Justin Jefferson to be flooded with targets versus the Giants.
  • MIN Running Back #32
With the NFL’s new kickoff rules, teams may be looking to get more dynamic playmakers the ball on returns. The Vikings have appointed Chandler their kick returner with WR Brandon Powell as the second deep man. After the Vikings released Kene Nwangwu, they were looking for another returner and Chandler looks to be the man. Offensively, this may mean Chandler will cut less into the RB1 workload, though veteran Aaron Jones is in line to dominate those touches anyways.
  • SEA Quarterback #16
Hall will get a chance to further his development with the Seahawks. The former fifth-round pick spent one season with the Vikings but was let go on roster cutdown day. Hall completed 13-of-20 passes for 168 yards and one interception in limited action as a rookie. Barring an absolutely dire situation at quarterback for the Seahawks in 2024, we would expect to see little, if any, of Hall.
  • MIN Quarterback #11
Rypien becomes the Vikings’ QB3 behind Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens. The journeyman threw for 335-3-0 while completing 70.6 percent of his passes this preseason but lost out to Tyson Bagent in the Bears’ backup quarterback battle. Rypien has appeared in 10 regular-season games since 2020 while making four starts. He has a career line of 950-4-9, and would be a massive downgrade for all Vikings pass-catchers if he were to see significant playing time due to injury.
  • BUF Safety #6
Cine was a camp cut by the Vikings earlier this week and now finds a home in Buffalo. The former first-round pick suffered a compound fracture in 2022, which ended his rookie season after Week 4. He played in just seven games last season and has one career tackle to his name. Cine is in career-rebuilding mode after an unfortunate start in Minnesota. If he can flash the talent that made him a first-rounder just three years ago, it’s possible he could earn his way onto the Bills’ 53-man roster.
  • MIN Tight End #85
Tonyan was a relatively surprising cut by the Vikings on Tuesday, but they’re able to keep the 30-year-old tight end in the organization. He could be active on game days especially with TJ Hockenson (knee) unavailable, but his days of fantasy significance are likely over.
